Humans
These are the people like you and I. Well, almost anyway. Remember, this is Akira Toyiyama's Earth, where people can look like people, pigs, wolves, or any other roughly humanoid "animal-person" you want. As long as you've got two arms, two legs, and a head (with any number of eyes; and noses optional), you can look like pretty much any animal or human you want. You just won't get any advantages for it.

Humans, in addition to being the most prolific race of the Dragon Ball Z Universe (there are Human-like races that are not found on Earth), they are also the base to which all other races are compared.  Many think that the Humans of the DBZ Universe are weak, and  a force not to be considered formidable.  This is just not true however.  Humans can gain Power Levels just as high as any of the known races of the Universe and learn all of the Power Techniques available.  However, it is their lack of access to high level Power Amp Techniques (such as the Super Saiyan) that leaves them lagging behind everyone else.  Keep in mind that it was Kajirobe that cut the tail from Vegeta, Krillin kept Frieza distracted (even cutting of his tail) while Dende healed Gohan, it was Tien that held Semi-Perfect Cell in place to allow Android 18 to escape, Hercule managed to befriend the murderous Majin Buu, and even Videl stood against the Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly as well as Hirudegarn.

And then there's Yamcha.

For the most part, the warriors of Earth should not be dismissed because they cannot turn blonde and light up the sky with a golden aura.  They are still a force to be reckoned with, and had it not been for their involvement in many of the great battles of the Universe, things would have ended very differently.

Human characters start play knowing the Hide Power Level and Sense Power Level techniques (these do not count against their three initial Power Techniques). They also begin play with 3 Hoipoi Capsules, containing anything they wish (with the GM's approval).
Arlians
An insectoid race from a planet destroyed by Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince. Few of them have survived the devastation of their home planet and have scattered across the Universe. Resembling seven-foot tall grasshoppers, the Arlians are bipedal with long faces and somewhat stocky builds. Their exoskeletons run in a variety of colors, from ash gray, to white, purple, brown, and pink.

An Arlian's exoskeleton is fairly tough and resistant to damage, giving them a +25 to their Defense. In addition, the Arlians are a silicone-based life form that does not need to breath. This, coupled with their tough exoskeletons, allows the Arlians to withstand the cold vacuum of space.

Arlians are capable of expelling expelling energy beams from their hands, eyes, and mouth like many races of generating high power levels.  Despite this, they seem to have an affinity for melee weapons such as swords and axes, and royal guards often carry shields as well.  Arlian characters begin play with an Arlian sword that adds +10 dice to their hand-to-hand attacks (note that these are not magical weapons and they cannot have their damage value increased at the expenditure of experience points), and an Arlian shield that adds +10 to their Defense (in addition to their natural +25).
Nameks
Humanoid, green-skinned lizard men (although a bit of research suggests that they may be closer related to snails and slugs than reptiles).  Nameks seem to be very much like Humans, with the addition that they seem to have near-malable limbs that they can lengthen to unbelievable lengths and regenerate almost instantly.  They come from another planet and very few Nameks are actually on the planet Earth at any given point.  To be a Namek you must roll 2d6, and on a roll of 3 or less you can play as one.

Nameks have a greater affinity for energy manipulation than most other races do; first off they may have up to four Power Techniques at character generation instead of the standard three.  Second, Nameks may develop and create Energy Attacks as they wish, even if the number of Energy Attacks they are developing is greater than their allotted maximum Power Techniques.  They can even use these Energy Attacks on a one-time trial basis.  However, if a Namek wishes to use this Energy Attack (or newly developed Power Technique) again, he must commit it to memory (meaning he will have to put it towards his maximum amount of Power Techniques) or else never be able to use it again.  Example: a Namek character has a maximum of Power Techniques and develops four of those at character generation.  For the fifth Power Technique he is torn between filling with one of two Energy Attacks he is working on, one of them is called Fury Blast and the other is called Arrow of Light, but he doesn't know which-one he likes better. The Namek uses the Fury Blast in combat once and decides there's really nothing to it, and it's not what he expected. The Namek forgets the attack and still has a fifth Power Technique free. Later in the battle the Namek uses the Arrow of Light and is very pleased with the results and decides to use this attack again. He must commit the attack to memory and now he no long has any room left to learn more Power Techniques.

Nameks begin play knowing the Power Techniques of Limb Regeneration and Limb Growth (see below).  Neither of these Power Techniques counts towards their totals.

Namek Limb Regeneration: Nameks can instantly recover lost limbs (arms and legs) by expending 100 points of energy.  The new limb simply erupts from the socket of the old one very rapidly.  This can be quite startling to those not used to seeing this technique used.

Namek Limb Growth: In addition to being able to regenerate their limbs instantly, a Namek can make his limbs (usually their arms) to incredible lengths.  For every 10 power points spent a Namek can make his limbs lengthen 2 MOVE.
Saiyans
The powerhouse
s of the Dragonball Z world, they closely resemble Humans (and can even interbreed with them), Saiyans are distinguished by long, black, spikey hair (some of them are completely bald), a tail the resembles the tail of Earth primates (monkeys), and their love of combat.  They are much like Humans in size and shape but have enhanced strength and incredible endurance, in addition they also have the ability to change into a giant, uncontrollable were-ape at the sight of the full moon.  To play a Saiyan you must roll a 2 on 2d6.

Saiyans begin play with many things; among them being Saiyan Armor and a Scouter (see the Equipment section), and at the GM's discretion, possibly a Saiyan space pod as well.  In addition to these material objects Saiyans have a number of unique Power Techniques unique to their race; Saiyan Rage, Saiyan Endurance, and Oozaru being among them.

Saiyan Rage: Rage is a powerful force in Saiyan physiology; anger kicks their hyper evolutionary abilities into overdrive.  This power up allows them to handle even more Ki or even trigger the Super Saiyan transformations.  It takes a major event - death of a family member or best friend for example - to trigger a Saiyan Rage.  When enraged, a Saiyan's abilities literally explode, temporarily doubling his Power Up, Power Level and Skills for 1d6+5 phases.  Saiyan's may only become enraged once during any one battle!

Saiyan Endurance: Saiyans are tough, there is no doubt about it; and the saying "whatever does not kill me, only makes me stronger" has never been more true.  The unique physiology of the Saiyans causes them to become stronger after near death experiences.  Every time a Saiyan character is fully healed after being taken down to 2 or less Hits (but not dying), the player rolls 1d6 and multiplies the result by 100.  This is the number of experience points the player may distribute to the character in any way.
Oozaru (Great Ape): One of the traits that makes the Saiyans so feared and notorious is their ability to transform into the giant 50-foot tall were-monkey form known as the Oozaru (or more commonly, Great Ape).  In order to transform the Saiyan must still have their tail as the glands responsible for the transformation are located exclusively there.  The Saiyan also needs to absorb something called Blutz Waves (green spectrum radiation) through his eyes at a rate of 17.400.000 xeno units per second.  The easiest way to achieve this is to gaze at the full moon of most any inhabitable planet.  The Oozaru will always portray evil and destructive characteristics even in the case of good aligned Saiyans and Half-Saiyans.  The Oozaru represents the most primitive and base violent instincts present in all with Saiyan blood.

Achieved By: Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Bardok
Requirements:
  • Must be either Saiyan or Half-Saiyan
  • Must have a tail
  • Must look at the full moon (or equivalent) for 1 Phase (transformation will take 3 Phases, so the entire process will take a full Round, during which time the Saiyan can take no actions, although any Deflections set up will remain in place)
Stat Changes:
The following base stats are multiplied by 10:
Power Level, Power Up, Characteristics (except Mental - see below)

The following base stats are affected as well:
Mental Characteristics is reduced to 2
An Oozaru can only emit energy blasts from his mouth and does not retain knowledge of any of the character's special Power Techniques

While it is true that when Saiyans transform into Oozaru they have a tendency to attack anyone they see (including friends and allies), they do retain this much; 1) while they may not actually recognize allies, Oozaru do seem to remember who their true enemies are, and will tend to attack that person/people first.  2) Oozaru seem to be able to work together, unless the other Oozaru is specifically their enemy, multiple Oozaru seem to not strike out at each other.  3) Once an Oozaru's enemies are gone, they giant monkey will go on a rampage, attacking anything in it's path, including friends.

Duration:
The Oozaru state is not something that can be "turned off" at will.  Only one of three factors will lead to a Saiyan (or Half-Saiyan) reverting out of Oozaru state; 1) He is taken down to 0 Hits.  Once this happens, the Oozaru will fall unconscious and revert back to his normal Saiyan state.  2) The moon sets.  Once the moon sets and the sun rises, the Oozaru will revert back to its original original form.  And 3) Cut off the tail.  Once a Saiyan's tail is cut off he will not be able to maintain his Oozaru form and he will revert back to his Saiyan form.  The sudden glandular loss will be a shock to the Saiyan's system and he will have to make a Body skill check (using the Saiyan's standard stats, not his Oozaru-boosted stats) against a DV of 22.  Reversion back to a Saiyan's normal form is quicker than the initial transformation, only taking 2 Phases.
A Saiyan's Tail: The Saiyan's tail is key to the Oozaru transformation, without it a Saiyan cannot assume their Great Ape state.  This tail is also a Saiyan's greatest weakness.  If their tail is grabbed and pulled (even by a mundane Human), it is the equivalent pain of a person suffering from a kidney stone.  The Saiyan's Physical, Combat, and Move Characteristics are all reduced to 2, and their skills are halved, making them fairly useless in a fight of any kind.

By cutting off a Saiyan's tail you can effectively take away their Oozaru ability.  When a Saiyan is not transformed and in his normal state, they will typically wear their tails wrapped around their waist like a belt.  This makes it all but impossible for one to cut their tail off while in this form, other than restraining them somehow and slicing it off.  When in Oozaru form however, their tails are a much larger and easier target.  To remove an Oozaru's tail the attacker must make an aimed attack at the tail (with the typical -6 to his attack roll), then the attacker must do more damage than the Oozaru's total starting Hits in a single blow before Defense (as per the Impaling and Severing rules).  (Note though that there is a difference between recognizing that a massive 50-foot tall monkey is attacking you, and realizing that the tail of the massive 50-foot tall monkey is his weakness).

If the tail is cut off of a Saiyan character, do not despair, there is a chance that it will grow back.  After the tail is cut off, the character must make a Body check against a DV of 40.  If the check succeeds then the tail will grow back in a week.  If it fails even once, then the Saiyan will never be able to grow his tail back.

For whatever reason, Saiyan children (those who have not reached their 18th year) seem to be able to grow their tails back easier than adults, the DV for the Body is only 20.

Blutz Cannon:The Blutz Cannon is a Power Technique known to the Saiyan Elites - the likes of Nappa, Zorn, and Vegeta - that allows them to create artificial blutz waves to trigger the Oozaru transformation at will.  The Technique itself causes no damage, however it creates a ball of energy that the user throws into the air and when doing so creates, for all intents and purposes, a false moon that all Saiyans can stare at to absorb bluntz waves to trigger the Oozaru transformation.  The secret of the Blutz Cannon was one that was known only to the royal family and shared only with their elite guard.  Vegeta was the last Saiyan alive to know this secret technique.  Saiyans who know the secret of the Blutz Cannon also have learned to control themselves while in Oozaru form.  A Saiyan who knows this Power Technique and transforms into the Oozaru (whether by use of the Blutz Cannon or through more conventional means) retains their personality and can control themselves.  Further more they do not see their Mental Characteristic reduced to 2, and they can use all of their available Power Techniques.
Rule: The Blutz Cannon is actually a surprisingly simple technique to use.  The Saiyan must gather energy and form it into a green radioactive ball in his hand and then launch it into the air.  The process only takes 1 Phase to accomplish and requires a Mental + Power skill test against a DV of 18 and requires the expenditure of 1,000 Power.
Half-Saiyans
Half-Saiyans are not a race unto themselves but rather a sub-race of the Saiyans.  The Saiyans are capable of mating and producing off-spring with most Human and humanoid races, creating half-blood offspring.  While this initially seems to dilute the power of the Saiyan blood, over time Half-Saiyans have the potential to become some of the deadliest combatants ever.  They are capable of learning all techniques learned by both Humans and Saiyans - including have the potential to become the golden-haired Super Saiyan!  To be a Half-Saiyan roll 2d6 and on a roll of 4 or less you can play as one.

In addition to being able to learn all things both Human and Saiyan, a Half-Saiyan has a 25% chance (3 or less on 2d6) to be born with a tail.  A Half-Saiyan born with a tail has the ability to transform into the massive Oozaru the same as a full-blooded Saiyan.  Half-Saiyans also have the ability to go into a Saiyan Rage (see above) as full-blooded Saiyans do, however it is not something that comes natural to them, it is something that must be learned as any other Power Technique (so Half-Saiyans do not begin to play with Saiyan Rage but can learn it normally).  Half-Saiyan can never gain the ability of Saiyan Endurance.
Changelings (Arcosians)
The supposed tyrants of the Universe, the Changelings are a race of warlords and planet brokers that live by a strict and easy to understand caste system; Changelings are the overlords and any that is not a Changeling is to be ruled over.  There is much speculation over what Changeings really are.  At first it was believed they were an asexual race like the Nameks that reproduce by budding or some other method, but this has since been found untrue, the Changelings do have male and female sexes among them.  it is also not known whether they are an organic life-form or some type of bio-mechanical life form as their appearance would suggest, or if they are a silicone-based life form with an incredibly resilient exoskeleton similar to the Arlians.  What is agreed on is that they are tyrants of the worst kind, enslaving races and ruling over planets and systems the way feudal lords of ancient Earth would rule over the land.  They appear to form into loose houses, with the strongest male being the king of the household (ala King Cold) and his sons being put in charge of various sectors of the king's territories.  Females seem to be delegated to a subservient role in all of this, rarely being seen by those outside their own race.  To play a Changeling roll 2d6, on a roll of 4 or lower a player can make a Changeling character.

Even the true name of their race is not readily known to most species of the Galaxy, though there is speculation that they are actually the Arcosians, the first race the Saiyans encountered after defeating the Tuffles.  While the Saiyans stole the technology of the Scouters from the Tuffles, it was the Arcosians that gave the Saiyans their armor, space pods, and various other bits of technology (all things that look suspiciously like items used by other races that were part of Frieza's Planet Trade Organization).  The name "Changeling" was given to them by those races that have seen them in action.  As a Changeling's power increases, his body must change to properly contain the large amounts of power within.  Their first form is called their Restraint Form, and looks fairly unremarkable.  Though Changelings can very in appearance as widely as Humans or Saiyans, they all share basic characteristics; a humanoid frame and build, being slightly shorter in stature than the average Human or Saiyan.  Their heads look like something between a normal humanoid head and an over-sized helmet with two horns protruding from either side.  They have five fingers and three toes and a prehensile tail that can strike with as much force in combat as their clenched fist.

The second form is called their Battle Form and looks like a larger, more brute-like version of their Restrained Form.  The major differences between their Battle Form and their Restrained Form is they grow in both size and mass, reaching slightly taller than seven feet in height.  Their third form is their Beast Form, and once again, these all take on different specific characteristics, but there are a few things that remain the same.  The size of the Beast Form is the same as the Battle Form, however their mannerisms and appearance take on a more animalistic nature.  Frieza, for example, had his head elongated and grew a second set of horns.  However his body over all smoothed out and took on a more armored looking form.  In this form they tend to become more savage and psychotic.  The fourth (and until recently thought to be final) form is their Ultra Form.  It is here that a Changeling has absolute control of his power.  In this form, the Changeling reverts back to the same size and mass as their Restrained Form, however now their build is a little bulkier, more fit.  There bio-armor is smooth and form fitting, showing no chinks at all.  In this form the Changeling has no limits to the amount of power they can draw.

The fifth form of the Changelings is very rare, in fact only one Changeling is actually recorded as achieving this form, and that is Cooler, Frieza's brother.  It could be possible that he was the first one to discover this untapped form.  This would not be outside the realm of possibilities due to Cooler's nature.  Unlike other Changelings he was never content with believing that he had achieved an "all-powerful" state, nor did he take anything for granted.  He was very different from the majority of his race.  It is possible that Frieza was on the path of discovering this fifth form as well, the beginning of it being the 100% Power mode he referred to.  However, after suffering a Spirit Bomb at the hands of Goku, and then being cut to ribbons by Trunks, we will never know.  The fifth form, the Armored Form, looks to be somewhere between the Battle Form and Beast Form, taking the same size and mass of those two forms.  In this form the Changeling retains his strength and power of the Beast Form, but retains his mental faculties and self-control.

Each transformation takes only 1 Phase.  The exceptions to this are 100% and Armored Form.  The transformation into these two forms takes 2 Phases during which the Changeling can take no other actions but any Deflections they put up will remain in place.

Changelings, no matter what form they are in, are able to survive in the harsh vacuum of space thanks to their exoskeleton armor.

(Note that due to the unstable nature of a Changeling's being, they cannot learn any type of Power Amp Techniques).
First Form/Restrained Form: This is the starting form of all Changelings when they make a character.  Characteristics, Skills, Power Level, Power Up, everything is determined the same as any character creation.  There is only one exception; in this form a Changeling is completely unable to Power Up more than 500,000.  Should a Changeling Power Up to this level and he has more power to call up he has to transform into his Battle Form.

It is important to note that a Changeling's transformation is different than other Power Amp techniques and henshin transformations.  Once a Changeling ascends to a new transformation they cannot revert back to a previous form (the only exception to this rule is 100% Power and the Armored Form).  It is for this reason that most Changelings will ascend to the Beast Form only if they absolutely have too.  Most members of the race do not particularly like what this form does to one's mental faculties (with the exception of being like Frieza, who seemed to revel in it).
2nd Form/Battle Form:This is the next form a Changeling takes if he wants to up beyond 500,000.  In this form both his size and muscle mass increases but he still retains the same general appearance of his Restrained Form.  As previously stated, when assuming their Battle Form, the Changeling increases in size and mass, becoming more muscular and physically more of a powerhouse as well as being able to generate more energy.  Many Changelings remain at this level once they have achieved it as most beings of the Universe never achieve this level of power anyway, so this still makes them some of the most powerful warriors in the Universe.  At the time of Goku and the Z Fighters, King Cold, who was thought to be one of the strongest fighters alive, never ascended beyond this form, and only his sons Frieza and Cooler sought high levels of power.  And that was more than likely due to some adolescent brotherly competition.  The following modifiers are made to the Changeling's base (Restrained Form) stats:

Maximum Power Level 2,000,000
Minimum Hits 5,000 (meaning that if a Changeling's Hits are less than 5,000 when he attains the Battle Form he will automatically be taken up to the minimum when he transforms)
All Skills x1.5
Form 3/Beast Form: In this form the Changeling takes on a more animalistic appearance and personality.  Truly evil Changelings become the most psychotic and sadistic in this form, all the inherent vileness of the Changelings come out in this form.  It is the only form that alters the Changeling's personality and for that reason the more self-respecting of the race (like Cold and Cooler) either do not ascend to this form unless completely necessary, or they spend as little time in this form as possible.  However, there are some Changelings - like Frieza - who revel in the "freedom" that the Beast Form bestowed upon them and gets drunk with the psychotic power.  The Beast Form retains the size and mass of the Battle Form, and sees an increase in their exoskeleton armor.  The following modifiers are made to the Changeling's base (Restrained Form - NOT the Battle Form) stats:

Maximum Power Level 8,000,000
Minimum Hits 8,000
All Skills (except Mind - see below) x2
Mind Skill /2

Form 4/Ultra Form:This, the Changeling's fourth form was (until recently) thought to be the final form the race could achieve.  The Changeling's size reduces back to the approximate size of their original Restrained Form, and their exoskeleton armor smooths out and seals them in entirely.  As well they revert back to their original personality.  Their horns are gone, as is their bulk and mass, but they retain all the strength and power of the previous Beast Form, and then some.  The Ultra Form is the last naturally occurring form that a Changeling can assume.  The 100% Power and Armored Form (see below) are more like Power Amp Techniques, similar in function to the Super Saiyan, and they must be actively pursued and require massive amounts of training to achieve.  The following modifiers are made to the Changeling's base (Restrained Form - NOT the Beast Form) stats:

No Maximum Power Level Limit
Minimum Hits 10,000
All Skills x2.5
100% Power: Unlike previous forms of the Changeling, the state that Frieza achieved that he referred to as 100% Power is not so much a change to the Changeling's body as it is a Power Amp Technique similar to the Super Saiyan.  This Technique is only available to those who have made the transformation to their Ultra Form.  Actually 100% Power is more like the Saiyan power stage known as Ascended Saiyan.  A Changeling in their Ultra Form see their musculature increase dramatically, as well as their ability to wield massive amounts of energy.  However this form is imperfect and the added mass and weight tends to slow the Changeling down.  All Stat Improvements of 100% Power are applied to the Changeling's Ultra Form, not his Restrained Form.

Achieved By: Frieza and Cooler (presumed)

Requirements:
Must have achieved Ultra Form
Maximum Power Level must be at least 10,000,000
Must be actively attempting to achieve a level of power beyond the Ultra Form (roll 2d6, on a roll of 2 you achieve the Fifth Form - Armored Form - however on a roll of 3 or 4 you achieve 100% Power)

When at 100% Power the following modifiers are applied to the Changeling's Ultra Form.

Stat Improvements:
The following stats are multiplied by 2:
Power Level, Power Up, and Skills (except Evasion - see below)

The following stats are divided by 2:
Evasion

Power Drain:
At the beginning of each new Round, the Changeling loses an amount of power equal to one-half their base (unmodified) Power Up.  This comes directly out of their Power Stores, not what they have powered up.
Fifth Form/Armored Form: As with 100% Power, the Armored Form of a Changeling is more of a Power Amp Technique rather than a true transformation like their other forms.  To date, it is believed that only one Changeling has ever achieved/discovered this fifth form, and that is Cooler.  Transformation to the Armored Form sees the Changeling's size increase as well as physical strength and Power Level.  Also, the exoskeleton armor of the Changeling becomes sleeker and completely sealed, encasing them totally in bio-armor.

Achieved By: Cooler

Requirements:
Must have achieved Ultra Form
Maximum Power Level must be at least 10,000,000
Must be actively attempting to achieve a level of power beyond the Ultra Form (roll 2d6, on a roll of 2 you achieve fifth form - Armored Form - however on a roll of 3 or 4 you achieve 100% Power)

When at Armored Form the following modifiers are applied to the Changeling's Ultra Form.

Stat Improvements:
The following stats are multiplied by 2.5:
Power Level, Power Up, and Skills (except Body - see below)

The following stats are multiplied by 3:

Body

Power Drain:
At the beginning of each new Round, the Changeling loses an amount of power equal to their base (unmodified) Power Up.  This comes directly out of their Power Stores, not what they have powered up.
Konatsians
The Konatsians are an ancient race of aliens from the South Galaxy.  Looking mostly human in appearance, the Konatsians have long, pointed ears and often wild, outlandish, hair styles and colors.  As with most races of the Dragon Ball Z Universe, extraordinary examples of the Konatsian race are able to wield and utilize Ki and other forms of energy (most members of their race refer to this power as magic).  The guardian of their world was known as the Konatsian Wizard.

The only known Konatsian to have visited Earth was the Legendary Hero named Tapion.  At the time of his arrival on Earth it is unknown whether the Konatsian race still existed or not, but if they did it was probable that their home planet, Konat, was destroyed during Broly's rampage of the South Galaxy.  However it is conceivable that a handful of Konatsians have survived after all these years (as some Saiyans have).  Whether they survived the attack of Broly and the destruction of their world, they were off-planet at the time, or Broly somehow missed their planet.  Konatsians have access to most (if not all) Power and Power Amp Techniques available to Humans.

Konatsian player characters begin play with a magic hand-to-hand weapon of their choice.  They don't have to expend a Skill or Experience point to initially purchase the weapon as per the standard rules.  To play a Konatsian, the player must roll 2d6, on the roll of 2, 3, or 4 the play may play a Konatsian.
Androids
While technically not a race in and of themselves, the Androids deserve to be mentioned here.  Most (if not all) Androids of Earth are constructions of Dr Gero and/or Red Ribbon Army.  It should be noted though that not all Androids necessarily come from Earth.  Androids are just as varied and unique as Humans or any other race of the Dragon Ball Z Universe.  In fact the term "Android" is a catch-all that is used to describe anyone who has at least more than 50% of their being made up of artificial and/or electrical components.  A common misconception is that all Androids are lifeless, emotionless robots.  This is not true at all; Androids in one form or another have life in them, and they are capable of feeling the full range of emotions from fear, hatred, joy, and even love (as has been seen with Android 18).  Though some Androids show these emotions much differently than what Humans are used to (as with Androids 16).

There are various different types of Androids; Artificial Intelligence, Cybernetic Reconstruction, Transferred Intelligence, and Bio-Mechanical.  Among those there are two different types of power supplies for Androids; those with a Limited Power Supply and those with an Unlimited Power Supply.  All Android types are listed below.

Androids, no matter the type, can survive in the harsh vacuum of space.
Artificial Intelligence
Androids that fall into the Artificial Intelligence category are completely constructed beings.  They were built from scratch and totally mechanical beings.  Artificial Intelligence Androids are not created with free will, they are created with a specific set of programing that they are compelled to follow at all costs.  In the most rare exceptions they can break their programming and attain free will for themselves (as with Android 16), but this takes a great deal of effort and takes time for the Android to achieve, and it almost always involves some type of great even to occur during the Android's existence.  To break their programming, an A.I. Android must make a Mind Skill check.  The DV is set by the GM based on the complexity of the Android's programming and the situation at hand.

Artificial Intelligence Androids are practically immortal.  With the proper amount of routine maintenance A.I. Androids can continue to function for possibly hundreds of years.  They do not manipulate Ki like organic beings do, instead they draw upon the energy within their own reactor cores and use it to fuel power techniques in the way that organic beings wield Ki.  A.I. Androids cannot learn the Power Techniques of Sense and Hide Power.  Instead they are built with hardware that is the technological equivalent of the Saiyan Scouter (see the Equipment section).  Upon construction (character creation) Artificial Intelligence Androids may begin play knowing all of their maximum allowed Power Techniques, unlike other races.  A.I. Androids can have either Limited or Unlimited Power Supplies.

Examples of Artificial Intelligence Androids: Android 13, Android 14, Android 15,  Android 16, Android 19
Transferred Intelligence
Transferred Intelligence Androids are a blend of A.I. and C.R. Androids.  The body has been completely constructed artificially, but a living being's consciousness has been placed into the Android's body one way or another.  Either by infusing the body with the living being's Ki energy (as with Meta Cooler), or something like having the being's brain physically implanted into the Android's shell (as with Dr Gero).  Like the Cybernetic Reconstruction Androids, T.I. Androids do not have any strong programming, nor do they have an effective life-span, instead being effectively immortal the same way that A.I. Androids are.

No matter the process for infusing the being's essence into a Transferred Intelligence Android they must, like the previous two androids, be constructed with either a Limited or Unlimited Power Supply.  Also, like the previous Androids, the Transferred Intelligence Android may be built with energy reading technology built into them (like the Saiyan Scouter).  If the player choose this at character creation, the Transferred Intelligence Android character may not learn the Power Techniques of Sense and Hide Power.  Also, at character creation it is assumed that the being that was placed in the Android shell had some experience (albeit not necessarily much) already, so they may learn their maximum Power Techniques at character creation.

Examples of Transferred Intelligence Androids: Android 20 (Dr Gero), Meta Cooler

Bio-Mechanical/Bio-Engineered Android
The Bio-Mechanical Android (or Bio Android), is a remarkable achievement of technology no matter what their origins are.  Bio Androids are not built so much as they are grown using organic materials, or in some cases they are cloned from the cells of other living beings.  Bio Androids are incredible creations that can potentially wield massive amounts of power and for this reason those who create Bio Androids makes sure to program them for a specific purpose, and to obey specific individuals.  However, like Artificial Intelligence Androids, Bio Androids can break their programming under the correct circumstances, the way that Bio Broly did.  Truth be told, this is the only similarity that Bio Androids share with other Androids.  In all other ways they are wholly unique beings.

First, as stated, Bio Androids are not built, they are grown.  This affects much of their abilities; first off they cannot be built with Scouter technology like previous Androids can.  They can however learn the Power Techniques of Sense and Hide Power.  As Bio Androids are not mechanical machines but rather artificially created biological lifeforms, they do not have a power supply like other Androids.  Bio Androids cannot have a Limited or Unlimited Power Supply, instead they build and gather Energy the standard way as other races do.  Also, unlike other Androids, Bio Androids can learn Power Amp Techniques (both Cell and Bio Broly had the ability to become Super Saiyans).  Bio Androids also cannot learn Android specific Power Techniques, however they can learn all the Power Techniques available to biological fighters (see Power Techniques).  While not immortal (they are living creatures after all, and as such they will grow, age, and eventually succumb to the ravages of time), Bio Androids can be extremely long lived individuals, some surviving for multiple hundreds of years.

Examples of Bio-Mechanical Androids: Cell, Bio Broly

Races
The Races of Dragon Ball Z are as varied a lot as you would ever see.  From Humans to Saiyan, from Androids to Changelings, to space faring wizards, to the vast countless types of Humanoid species that roam the known Universe.  Many of these races find their way to Earth, which is impressive when one considers that the Humans of Earth do not really engage in space exploration at all!  Despite a race's tendency to lean one way towards good or evil, keep in mind they are not chained to that racial preference.  Remember that Goku, the savior of Earth, was a member of one of the most feared and destructive races of the Universe.  And both Lord Slug and Demon King Piccolo were members of a race that is generally known as a peaceful people.

Most races (especially those alien in nature) will speak their own racial language, but it is also assumed that all PCs can speak English (or a version of it) to be able to communicate with each other.
Hera
The Hera are a race of humanoids that hail from a planet of the same name.  Their bodies are roughly the same size and mass as Humans, but they have the appearance of superb physical specimens, with low body fat and an impressive, some might say beautiful, physic.  Their skin is teal in color and their hair is orange.  Fashion of the Hera leans towards large, loose fitting clothing of various colors, and incorporates various accessories such as jewelry, sashes, headbands, and belts.  They are very reminiscent of the gypsies of Earth.

The Hera have much in common with the Saiyan race.  They are a warrior race that was known throughout North Galaxy as galactic pirates.  Physically strong and able to wield Ki energy with ease, the Hera were fierce combatants in their time.  At the height of their power, one rose above them all, the Pirate King known as Bojack.  A sadistic killer who reveled in genocide.  So great were Bojack's atrocities that all fours Kais gathered together to put a stop to Bojack's rampage and they sealed away the entire Hera race in a prison dimension at the heart of an unnamed star (think the Phantom Zone from "Superman").

When Goku transported Cell to King Kai's planet the explosion that followed was so great that it momentarily weakened the barriers on the star prison and a handful of Hera were able to escape into the North Galaxy again!  It would be foolish to assume that Bojack and his gang were the only ones that were able to escape their prison.

Hera characters have access to a unique Power Technique called Psycho Thread that can only be learned by a member of their race.  Unlike other racial Power Techniques (such as those known by Nameks), the Hera do not automatically know this Technique.  They must learn as with other Power Techniques, and it counts towards their allowed total normally.
Psycho Thread: Psycho Threads are thin pieces of energy used by the Hera.  The user points his hand at his opponent and traps them with thin strings of purple energy, paralyzing them and sucking the energy out of them.  Struggling against it also results in the victim becoming even weaker as a result.
Rule: Psycho Threads is an energy attack that does no initial damage to the opponent, instead it has the Immobilization special effect, as well as a variant of the Android ability to Absorb/Convert Ki.  As long as the opponent is trapped in the Psycho Threads, the user can continue to drain his opponent's energy at a rate of his Power Up.  Note that the user can only absorb as much energy as his Power Level, and then he must quit absorbing his opponents energy.  He can, however, keep his opponent trapped in the Threads.
Humanoids
The term "Humanoids" is a catch-all classification that covers the numerous hundreds of races in the Four Galaxies that are humanoid in appearance and physiology.  These races include those represented by the likes of Zarbon, Dodoria, Captain Ginyu, Recoome and the rest of the Ginyu Force, Garlic Jr, Puipui, and countless others that have been encountered throughout the Universe.  A players that wants to create a Humanoid character can design the appearance of the alien as long as they have two legs, two arms, and one head.  Other details are left up to the player.  Humanoids can choose one salient ability that is listed below that allows their race to stand out from other races of the Universe.  The player can choose from the list below or make one on his own (with his GM's approval).  The salient ability that is selected does not count towards the character's Power Technique total.

The player may choose that the salient ability chosen is either a natural ability of the character and all members of their race are able to perform these feats (such as Nameks and their Limb Regeneration), or they are mutants of the race and not a typical specimen at all (as the case with the Ginyu Force).

Enhanced Body & Endurance: The Humanoid was born with a natural increase to his physique and musculature.  This makes him very strong and incredibly resilient in combat.

Achieved By: Captain Ginyu, Recoome

Advantages:
At character generation multiply Body Skill, Defense, and Hits x2.  Note that this x2 bonus is applied ONCE to the character at generation and does not in fact multiply the character's new total whenever they add experience points to any of these stats.  Example: a character with this ability has 40 Hits at character generation and then applies this ability totally 80 Hits at generation.  Later when the same characters applies 20 experience points to his hits, the new total is 100 (80+20=100), NOT 120 (40+20x2=120)!

Enhanced Speed:
This allows a character increased speed in almost all aspects imaginable. Be it on foot, in flight, or in combat, the character is quicker than most others.

Achieved By: Burter

Advantages:
x10 to Movement
Flight costs half the Ki Energy that is normally would (so a character with the Enhanced Speed ability would only spend 120 Energy to achieve Mach 12 rather than 240!), as does both the applications of Super Reflex Boost.

Henshin (Monster Transformation):
For whatever reason, this race is capable of altering their physical appearance and transforming into a form more powerful than their common form.  Typically this transformation can only be performed on a limited basis and requires concentration on the behalf of the user of this power.  This transformation is not as "power amping" as the Super Saiyan transformation, nor even the Changeling's physical transformation, however the biggest advantage is that being an inherent part of their character, humanoids with the Henshin power is able to perform this transformation at any given time in his life.

Achieved By: Garlic Jr, the Spice Boys, Zarbon

Stat Improvements:
The following base stats are multiplied by 2:
Power Level, Power Up, Defense, Hits, and Physical

Drawbacks:
The Monster Form only lasts 1d6+10 Phases and requires a resting time of 1 hour between transformations.  "Monstering Out" takes 2 Phases during which the character cannot attack or perform any other action, although he can maintain any Deflection which was generated before transformation.

High Gravity Home World: The character comes from a home world with higher gravity than normal.  This affects the way they will act on planets with normal gravity, making them somewhat strong and faster.  Coming from a high gravity home world gives the alien an edge in combat early in their career, but in the long run other warriors seem to eventually catch up to them as others begin to train harder and reach new levels of power.

Achieved By: Jeice, Salza, Puipui

Advantages:
Coming from a high gravity home world makes the Humanoid tougher than most, giving hm the equivalent of 100 experience points that he can add to his character at generation (note that these points must all be used up at character generation and cannot be saved for later.  If the player starts and the character has not used up all 100 bonus points then he may not apply them later).

Improved Defense: An external exoskeleton or carapace of some type greatly improves the character's defense, more so than even the Arlians.  Though unlike the Arlians they are not necessarily suited to the rigors of space travel.

Achieved By: Dodoria

Advantages:
+50 to Defense

Cybernetic Reconstruction
Androids of the Cybernetic Reconstruction category were actually once organic beings and have more than 50% of their original body replaced with artificial cybernetics. The reason for this could be something as simple as enhancing their natural abilities (Android 18) or to save them from death (Mecha Frieza). Cybernetic Reconstruction Androids retain their free-will, they do not have the strong programming of Artificial Intelligence Androids.

While Cybernetic Reconstruction Androids are not effectively immortal like A.I. Androids, they are fairly long-lived themselves. The life span of a Cybernetic Reconstruction Android is double what the average life as member of their base species. C.R. Androids are not limited to the Power Techniques they can learn and at Android construction (character creation) they can choose to be built with the same power level detection technology as A.I. Androids (the same as a Saiyan Scouter). If they do so, they cannot learn the Power Techniques of Sense and Hide Power. They can be built with Limited or Unlimited Power Supplies but they are limited to the number of Power Techniques that they know at creation the same as many other races of the Dragon Ball Z Universe.

Cybernetic Reconstruction can also be used on characters that have been mortally wounded to save them from death in the event that other means - such as the Dragon Balls - are not available.

Examples of Cybernetic Reconstruction Androids: Android 17, Android 18, Mecha Frieza
